Searles’ nine-hole resort golf course is now well established, a par-34 course, consisting of three par-3s, five par-4s and one par-5 hole, the course provides a fun round for novices and still challenges the more experienced golfer.

Designed in a links style, the course makes the most of natural features including the winding Heacham River and reed beds.  Good quality greens are receptive and under the control of our head greenkeeper remain consistent throughout the year.

The Course

Hole 1

The opening hole is a 319-yard par 4, out of bounds will punish any shot pulled left and a strategically placed fairway bunker means a straight opening drive is needed for any chance of attacking the green in 2 shots.

Hole 2

The 421 yard, stroke index 1, plays as a par 4 for men and 5 for ladies and will take two good shots to reach the well protected green, but a large target area on the drive offers some forgiveness and lets you open your shoulders.

Hole 3

A short par 3 of just 142 yards off the whites, but an accurate shot is required with the Heacham River running across the hole, 2 bunkers protecting the front and out of bounds behind the green. A large green will welcome a well struck shot.

Hole 4

A 347-yard dogleg left par 4 follows the Heacham River to the green, a good drive is needed to ensure a shorter club selection to the tight green surrounded by out of bounds.

Hole 5

The 5th hole, at only 323 yards may seem simple but fairway and greenside bunkers wait to gather your ball and any ball struck long into the green will be out of bounds.

Hole 6

A short par 4 dogleg of 272 yards gives you the opportunity to attack the green off the tee, but be warned, greenside bunkers and plantations can trap even the best hit shot.

Hole 7

The 161 yard 7th hole par 3 requires an accurate shot, the well protected green is the only concave green on the course and a ball is likely to run off the green if hit low.

Hole 8

The only par 5 on the course at 505 yards, follows the ancient reed bed in a double dogleg, any ball left is out of bounds all the way to the green. But 3 steady accurate shots will get you on to the green ready to attack for a birdie.

Hole 9

A 181 yard par 3 to finish on will allow for a shot to come up short or right but any shot left will end up wet in the fishing lakes or in the greenside bunker, anything long will end up out of bounds in The Fountain Sports Bar- but don’t worry, you can collect your ball along with a cold beer at the end of your round!
