Sunny Hunny might be off the cards currently, but that’s not to say you can’t still get that all-important holiday feeling from the comfort and safety of your own home. Whether you’d booked a Spring getaway, or were looking forward to a bank holiday weekend by the coast, we’ve got a few tips to liven the mood and get you feeling relaxed and replenished.
Don’t cancel your annual leave
It might seem like a waste of holiday days when you’re working from home anyway, but booking a few days away from your responsibilities is a surefire way to get you in the holiday mood. Sure, you might not be going away, but you’ll definitely get that ‘Holiday Eve’ feeling when you clock off the night before. You’ll be amazed at what a few days of total relaxation can do for you, even if you are in the house.
Eat your favourite holiday food
Ok, so fish and chips might taste better when you’re eating them on the beach, but they’re still pretty tasty at home. The crispiness of those chips and that batter will have you feeling relaxed in no time at all – just don’t forget the ketchup! Disappointed that you’re missing out on a visit to your favourite restaurant? Buy the ingredients for your favourite dish and recreate it at home – you never know, you might discover a new passion for cooking!
Turn the music up
We don’t want you getting on the wrong side of your neighbours, but listening to your favourite holiday tunes is a great way to get you feeling good. Whether you’re putting on your favourite Summer tunes, or cranking up your family’s road trip playlist, it’ll soon feel like the real deal.
Play family games
The great thing about holidays is that quality family time, so turn off the television and put down those phones, it’s time for some family fun! Get out in the garden for a kick about or a game of frisbee, as you would if you were on the beach. Fancy a game of table tennis? Repurpose that dining table.
Create your own evening entertainment
The fun doesn’t have to stop once the sun’s gone down. You can create your favourite evening entertainment at home, too. Watch your favourite stand-up comedian on tv, stream a YouTube Bingo video with homemade cards. You could even host your own karaoke night – and you can really sing like no one’s watching!
Video call your friends
Many of us align our getaway with those of our holiday friends for that much-anticipated annual break. But you don’t have to be with them in-person to enjoy all the fun. Video calls bring all the fun of holiday friends to you, and you can enjoy all your favourite food, drinks and games over this chat! If you’re feeling really creative, you could even write your own pub quiz to recreate your holiday games’ night!
As you can see, staying at home doesn’t mean missing out on that vacation feeling, and it certainly doesn’t mean missing out on the fun. The most important ingredient of any holiday, no matter where it is, is to treat yourself – whether that’s to some time out to your favourite food– and you can do all of that from the comfort of your own home!
When life returns to normal we can all get back out and enjoy Sunny Hunny once again.
All of us here at Searles Leisure Resort are looking forward to welcoming you back.
